Revision Hair Transplant

Revision hair transplantation is a treatment applied to patients who have had hair transplantation before but are not satisfied with the current transplantation results. Unfortunately, many patients seeking cheap surgery from inexperienced or cheap clinics suffer a 'failed' hair transplant and need a revision surgery.

What are the causes of botched hair transplant surgery?

Hair transplantation has been applied as a treatment for male and female pattern baldness for more than 40 years. Although techniques have changed dramatically in recent years, making it possible to achieve natural-looking results , there are still many patients with unacceptable results. These patients have hair that has been done with outdated techniques in the past or recently substandard techniques. The reasons for negative results can be technical errors, poor planning or complications.

Outcomes for these patients can be significantly improved with a number of different restorative surgical techniques.

How is revision hair transplantation done?

Revision hair transplantation usually begins with the removal of some hair follicles that were transplanted during the original surgery and that grow in an unnatural direction. These are replaced by new hair follicles from the sides and back of the head.

When transplanting hair follicles, it is necessary to have a truly artistic perspective so that the hair follicles grow naturally and in the right direction, consistent with your existing hair. This stage is often considered the hardest part of the procedure.

If the problem is in the hairline, the same correction is made and hair transplantation is performed.

Things to Consider After Revision Hair Transplantation

Everything that needs attention after revision hair transplantation is the same as FUE hair transplantation.

  • Use the drugs your doctor gave you (antibiotics, painkillers, etc.)
  • Try not to bend your head for 3-5 days after the procedure.
  • Consume plenty of water after FUE hair transplantation.
  • We recommend that you sleep on your back using a neck brace for the first 3-5 days after FUE hair transplantation.
  • Do not consume alcohol or cigarettes for the first 10 days after the operation so that it does not affect your healing process.
  • For the first 10-15 days, do not wear accessories such as hats or berets that will tighten your head. You can use a wide big hat.
  • Follow the washing instructions given to you for 10 days.
  • Avoid physical activities such as swimming, gymnastics and weight lifting for the first month after your hair transplant.
  • Protect your head from direct sunlight for 6 months after your surgery.
  • You can dye your hair after 6 weeks.
  • Try not to eat salty for 10 days.
  • Do not use a hair dryer for at least a month after the operation.
  • Do not use sauna, hammam, spa and jacuzzi for one month after the procedure.
  • Avoid sexual intercourse for at least 5 days after your procedure.
  • Use only the shampoo and lotion provided to you for the first 10 days.
